Pets are meant to go outside for their exercise and mental stimulation. As the owner, you are the one to decide if you will allow your pet to have this outdoor enrichment! Can’t decide on a place? Let us help you decide based on your mood, or your pet’s!

  • If you are looking for a waterfall adventure, then you must check out Chalk Ridge Falls Park! Located just outside of Belton, this park runs along the Lampasas River and features a waterfall and suspension bridge on the hiking trail. Plenty of dog owners take their furry friends for a 2.5-mile hike around the easy, out-and-back trail. Check out this trail map at the link here!
  • If you are looking for a paved path that is still within the city, you must bring your pet to Pepper Creek Trail! Located on the outskirts of Temple, this trail offers a 10 ft. wide paved path for 1.5 miles. From water views and wildflowers to a pedestrian bridge, this trail has a variety of exciting sights for your furry friend to experience! Find the trail map at the link here.
  • If you are looking for a trail that offers a selection of trails in one location, then stop by Miller Springs Park just outside of Temple and Belton. The park has 10 loops all for a variety of skill levels and lengths. With so many options, your dog will never be bored with the outdoor enrichment. Expect to see a variety of stunning natural springs, waterfalls, wildlife, and hills. Check out some of the most popular trails inside the park at the link here.
  • If you are looking for a park that has spectacular views and endless options, then you have to visit Cameron Park, a short 5-minute drive outside of Baylor University. With well-known trails like Jacob’s Ladder and Lover’s Leap, the park has a wide variety of landscaping and views that both you and your pet will enjoy. Both you and your pet will be tired by the end of your hiking day! Look through the selection of popular trails at the link here.

Regardless of how far out of the city you are for your adventure, make sure you clean up after your pet! We want to maintain and preserve our local parks and nature trails for other visitors.

You can even make their day even more special by bringing their favorite toy to play fetch with! Central Texas has a variety of small and large dog parks to visit. Things to Do with Your Pets at Central Texas Restaurants & Bars

Dine at a Pet-Friendly Restaurant

The weather has been too beautiful to leave your pet at home, so why not bring them with you! While not every restaurant offers pet-friendly dining options, there is still a wide selection of places to pick from! Bigger cities like Waco, Temple, and Belton have more pet-friendly options as opposed to smaller towns like Killeen, Salado, and Harker Heights. But luckily, all of these restaurants are within a short drive of each other. Here are Amy’s Attic’s top picks for pet-friendly restaurants in Central Texas.

It is important to note that these restaurants only allow pets in their designated outdoor dining patio area, not inside.

Grab a Brew with your Buddy

While some pet owners may struggle with balancing their pet life with their social life, why sacrifice one when you can have both! Next time you are wanting to meet up with some friends, take your pet to one of Central Texas’ pet-friendly bars or breweries. Central Texas has a variety of bars and breweries to select from that will fulfill both your and your pet’s social needs. Not every single Central Texas bar and brewery offers pet-friendly solutions, so Amy’s Attic is here to help fill you in on which ones do!

Now you don’t have to worry about having to leave to walk your pet when you can have your furry friend with you for “yappy hour”!
