2023 Summer Events in Central Texas

School is finally out which means it’s officially summertime! While summertime in Central Texas can be hot, there are plenty of options for ways to stay cool and away from the hot Texan sun this summer. Rather than being bored all summer long, let Amy’s Attic help you pick out some summer events in Central Texas to mix it up.

From movies and water parks to running events and rodeos, Central Texas has a bit of everything to offer up to its community. Whether you are looking for events for yourself, your kids, or some friends, your summer will be nothing short of exciting. With our help, Summer ‘22 is bound to be the best one yet!

Events are ordered from May to September. It is important to note that you should visit each event’s website prior to attending. Some events may be subject to change depending on our Texas weather.

 

$1 Kids Summer Movie Series at The Beltonian Theatre

Where: The Beltonian Theatre | 219 E Central Ave, Belton, TX

When: May 29th – August 20th | Monday – Friday: 10 A.M. / 1 P.M. / 4 P.M. | Saturday 10 A.M. / 1 P.M.

Want to beat the Texas summer heat? Come visit The Beltonian Theatre for summer movies with your kids for ONLY $1 per person! From The Bad Guys and Sing! Film series to the Despicable Me franchise and Trolls film series, The Beltonian Theatre presents some of the top family-friendly movies for you. The theater offers popcorn, food, drinks, and candy of all sorts to pair perfectly with your matinee. Since the theater has limited seats, they encourage everyone to book tickets ahead of time before your arrival. Get a snack, sit back, and relax as you watch some of the timeless kid’s movies for only $1 this summer!

Amy’s Attic expert tip: Saturdays are the busiest days in the theater. If you want to beat the crowds, opt for a midday matinee.

Summer Fun Adult Night

Where: Summer Fun Water Park | 1410 Waco Rd, Belton, TX 76513

When: Select dates from May 20th – August 26th, 8:00 P.M. – 12:00 A.M.

It’s time to grab your favorite swimsuit, beer, and friends and head to the waterpark. It’s official: Summer Fun Adult Nights are back and better than ever! This 21+ event combines live music, dancing, and drinks with waterslides and pool activities. Summer Fun Water Park will make sure you and your friends have the most fun this summer at Adult Nights. Attend the first event of the summer on the first Saturday of June. Make sure you buy your tickets before they sell out! And of course, make sure you pack your swimsuit and towel.

Amy’s Attic expert tip: This event is BYOB– so make sure to pack your favorite beers and wine coolers! Don’t forget to look at the BYOB rules before arrival so you avoid any trouble.

5v5 Waco Summer Fun

Where: Heart of Texas Soccer Complex | 6101 Airport Road, Waco, TX, 76708

When: Saturday, June 3rd, 9:00 A.M. to around 5:00 P.M.

Calling all soccer players! Warrior Soccer Tour presents a one-day 5v5 soccer tournament in Waco. Gather your best players to play in this fun, yet competitive tournament this summer. The tournament offers brackets ranging from 2016 to Adults for both men and women. All teams get four games guaranteed so no worries if you have an off game. If you don’t want to participate in the tournament, you can always bring your chair and best cheers to support your local teams. Make sure to sign up for your team today and get practicing!

Summer Run to Fun

When: Saturday, June 17th, 8:00 A.M.  – 12:00 A.M.

Are you an avid runner looking for a summer race to attend in Central Texas? Then you must sign up for Copperas Cove’s Summer Run to Fun race in June! Whether you have been training for months or want to walk/run a 5K race, this is the event for you. This chip-timed event starts early in the morning before the hot Texas sun has time to slow you down. You can expect to see beautiful views of the South Park and its surrounding neighborhoods. Make you sign up today to secure your spot in the race!

29th Annual Walk for Life

Where: Harker Heights Community Park | 1605 Knight’s Way, Harker Heights, TX 76548

When: Saturday, June 17th | Registration begins at 8:30 AM. Walk begins at 9:00 AM.

Join the Texas Alliance for Life as they raise money and walk to protect life at their 29th annual Walk for Life. During their fundraiser and two-mile walk, they aim to raise money and awareness for pro-life education, defend pro-life policies in the courts, and promote the Choose Life license plate to support infant adoption. This year’s walk will take place in various locations around Central Texas. You can either choose to walk with a group or walk solo after raising money. For every $250 in pledges, each walker can earn a free T-shirt. You can bring your kids, family, friends, and pets to this outdoor event. If you can’t walk but still want to support the cause, you can pledge a donation or sponsor a walker. Whether it’s raining or shining, the 2023 Walk for Life will go on!

4th Of July PRCA Rodeo

Where: Bell County Expo Center | 301 W Loop 121, Belton, TX, 76513

When: July 1st – July 3rd, 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

Nothing says summer in Texas like a rodeo! It’s time to get your cowboy boots and hats out and ready for this coming 4th of July weekend at the Bell County Expo Center. Watch the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) as they put on a patriotic rodeo as you’ve never seen it before! Each day of the weekend has a specific theme for the rodeo night: Saturday’s theme is Hometown Heros, Sunday’s theme is Family Night, and Monday’s theme is Military Appreciation Night. Enjoy your evening at the rodeo with your family, friends, and community this coming 4th of July weekend!

Amy’s Attic expert tip: If you want to take your kids to the rodeo, pick Sunday’s family night since kids 12 & under get in free with a paid adult.

Spring/Summer Market & Food Truck Frenzy

Where: 2 N Main Street, Temple, TX 76501

When: Saturday, May 13th, 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

At this point, we all know Central Texas has some of the best food in the state. If you are wanting to experience some of Temple & Bell County’s best flavors, then you will have to visit the Spring/Summer Market & Food Truck Frenzy in May. From vendors and food trucks to bouncy houses and live music, there is enough fun and food for the whole family! Make sure to plan to visit the frenzy with your family, friends, and neighbors. Amy’s Attic expert tip: Plan a 3-course meal at each food truck by getting one item from each truck. You can get an appetizer at one, an entree at another, and then finish with dessert. Bonus points if you can fit dessert in too!

Central Texas State Fair

When: Thursday, August 31st – Sunday, September 3rd | Visit Website for Hours

While nobody is looking forward to summer coming to an end, something you can look forward to at the end of the summer is the Central Texas State Fair! From the carnival, sweet treats, and concerts to the PBR Pro Tour and the Mutton Bustin’ Championship, the Central Texas State Fair will have something to excite every person. This event will run from Thursday to Sunday on the first weekend of September. The fair is a great family activity, date night, or somewhere to go out with your closest friends.
